A sombre day in Newport Magistrates’ Court as 27-year-old Liam Bennett faced the judge, charged with murder following a tragic incident in Abergavenny. It all started in the early hours of May 15 on Old Hereford Road, where a man sustained life-threatening injuries and sadly passed away in hospital.

During the hearing, magistrate Wayne Crocker ruled that Bennett, hailing from Gilwern, will remain in custody until his case proceeds to Cardiff Crown Court on May 26. With Rod Young defending Bennett and James Subbiani leading the prosecution, it was a straightforward session.
