🚨 Dramatic night in Newport! 🚨
A 21-year-old man was shot by police on St Edward Street, Newport after being seen with what appeared to be a crossbow. This tense incident unfolded around midnight on Friday, July 10. Specially-trained firearms officers responded to reports of threatening behaviour and took immediate action. The man, hailing from Newport, received first aid on-site and is now stable in hospital.
Deputy Chief Constable Nicholas McLain reassures us that there’s no ongoing danger to the public, as the situation is deemed isolated. Gwent Police emphasize that while offences involving weapons are scarce, they deal with such reports seriously to keep the community safe.
