🚤🌿 Big Move for Swansea’s Leaf Boat Sculpture! 🌿🚤

Swansea’s iconic Leaf Boat sculpture is getting ready for a new adventure! Previously a proud fixture in Castle Square, this masterpiece by artist Amber Hiscott, inspired by Dylan Thomas, will soon float its way to Cwmdonkin Park in Uplands.
While many are excited about this artistic relocation, Councillor Peter May has voiced some concerns. With a £40,000 price tag for the move, he’s questioning whether those funds might be better spent, particularly on much-needed public toilets in local parks. He pointed out the significant need for facilities in Victoria Park, a busy spot with new sports amenities but a distinct lack of loos. 🚽🙈

In response, Council Leader Rob Stewart highlighted that the city has already made substantial investments in local parks and assured that they’re exploring toilet solutions, even hinting that Councillor May had previously been supportive of bringing the sculpture to Uplands.
The debate continues, but one thing’s for sure—Swansea’s bringing more culture to its parks, and options for greater public convenience are on the radar. What do you think about the trade-off between funding art and amenities? 🎨💬 Let us know in the comments!
