🚨 Tensions Heat Up in Derry 🚨

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after intense unrest erupted in Derry, with masked youths allegedly throwing petrol bombs at police cars. Recent disturbances in key city areas have also seen fireworks, glass bottles, and masonry launched at law enforcement. 😲
The chaos has struck fear in local communities, particularly around Bishop Street, The Fountain, and Nailors Row. Police temporarily closed Bishop Street to deal with the escalating situation. Inspector Ferriby shared that the young boy was taken in on suspicion of riotous behaviour but has since been released on bail as investigations continue.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is determined to identify all involved and hold them accountable. They’re urging anyone with information, including dash-cam or CCTV footage, to assist in their enquiry. You can contact them directly on 101, referencing incident number 1383 of 05/05/26, or even reach out anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
Stay safe, Derry! Let’s hope for a quick resolution and a return to peace in the community. 🕊️
