Exciting news for foodies and history buffs in Cardiff! The iconic Park House is set to reopen, helmed by celebrated Welsh chef Tom Simmons. After sitting empty for 18 months, this architectural gem is back in the spotlight with a fresh vision that blends its rich heritage with modern dining.

Park House, a stunning French Gothic style building designed by Victorian architect William Burges for Lord Bute, was once called “perhaps the most important 19th-century house in Wales”. It previously hosted the esteemed Park House Restaurant & Wine Bar, which sadly shut its doors in 2023.
Tom Simmons, known for his popular Pontcanna restaurant and Ground bakery chain, has joined forces with local 3D visualisation experts, 4Real Creative. Together, they’re crafting digital renderings to breathe new life into Park House, promising a remarkable fusion of history and innovation for Cardiff’s dining scene.

Simmons says, “Park House is one of Cardiff’s true marvels. Partnering with 4Real Creative lets us honour its legacy while crafting a unique, modern dining adventure.” The team’s upcoming CGI renderings will offer a peek into the stunning planned transformation, showcasing the building’s new proposed layout and atmosphere.
Local pride runs deep in this collaboration, with Mike Bolton of 4Real Creative expressing excitement about bringing Simmons’ vision to life, celebrating Cardiff’s heritage with cutting-edge tech.
Cardiff Council is backing the project, having extended significant loans to tackle refurbishment costs tied to maintaining the structure’s historical integrity. The revamped Park House promises to reignite its past glory as a premier restaurant and events venue—definitely something to watch out for! Stay tuned for more updates on this storied venue’s next chapter.
