Ever wondered which names are trending in the UK? A recent study from mynametags.com, based on over 14,000 Deed Poll changes, reveals the top names people are choosing for themselves. Leading the charge is the name “Alex,” which is the UK’s most adopted name in the past five years. Other favourites include Olivia, Charlie, Alexander, and Ellie.
Interestingly, many are ditching names like James, Michael, and Susan, which top the list of the most changed names. Elizabeth is a unique case, appearing on both the adopted and ditched lists, showing a mixed trend among name-changers.
Lars B. Andersen from mynametags.com notes that Brits seem to prefer shorter, more contemporary versions of classic names, a trend reflected in both personal and baby name choices. From Alex to Ellie, these shorter names are clearly resonating across generations.
