💔 Tragic Loss in Rogiet: Baby Fatally Bitten by Family Dog 💔
In an absolutely heartbreaking incident, nine-month-old Jonte Bluck tragically lost his life after being bitten by his family’s XL bully dog in Rogiet, Monmouthshire. The attack occurred on November 2 at his father’s home. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, little Jonte didn’t survive the head injury sustained.
Authorities have arrested a man and a woman from Rogiet on suspicion of child neglect and having a dangerously out-of-control dog. Both have been released on bail as investigations continue.
The six-year-old dog, identified as a male black XL bully, was seized and put down. It had an exemption certificate from 2024, prior to a ban on such breeds.
Assistant Chief Constable Vicki Townsend emphasized the importance of not speculating online about the incident to ensure the integrity of the investigation. She urged anyone with information about the dog’s past behaviour to contact the police directly.
The village is in mourning, with local councillor Peter Strong expressing the community’s shock and sadness over this tragic event. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
