In an incredibly heartbreaking turn of events, Amanda Axiak is turning her grief into action by sharing the story of her 11-year-old daughter Alicia-Adele, who tragically passed away just 15 days after waking up with a numb arm. Alicia, a vivacious and loving child from Caerphilly, was diagnosed with an aggressive and incurable brain tumour known as DIPG, a leading cause of brain tumour deaths in children.

Alicia was an embodiment of kindness and energy. Whether it was diving into school netball, dancing, or helping anyone in need, she lived life to its fullest. Her mother Amanda remembers her fondly as an “angel” who was always the first to offer help and support, especially to others her age. Alicia dreamed of becoming a paediatric doctor to help children, a testament to her compassionate nature.

Following her daughter’s untimely death, Amanda is sharing Alicia’s story to raise awareness and fight for change. Alarmingly, brain tumours receive only 1% of cancer research funding in the UK. Amanda hopes that by advocating for increased investment and research, future families won’t have to face the same unimaginable heartache.

In memory of Alicia-Adele, a Kindness Award has been established at her school, ensuring her legacy of compassion lives on. Amanda has also set up a fundraising group called “Alicia-Adele’s Angels,” with future events planned to continue raising awareness and funds for brain tumour research.
“I’m turning heartbreak into hope,” Amanda states, noting that as long as her heart beats, Alicia’s legacy will continue to inspire. Join in supporting this vital cause and keeping Alicia-Adele’s spirit alive. You can donate to “Alicia-Adele’s Angels” and help drive the change needed for better treatments and outcomes for brain tumour patients.
Let’s rally together to ensure that Alicia’s story sparks the crucial change in brain cancer research and funding in Wales, turning the narrative from tragedy to hope. 🌟💔
