Meet Eleeza Khan, a trailblazer in Welsh football! At just 20, Eleeza, alongside her sister Rosheen, made history as Wales’ first female Muslim referees. Their journey began casually at Grangetown Pavilion, where they took a leap into the FAW referee diversity programme to bring more ethnic minorities into the game.

From a young age, football was central in their lives, thanks to their dad’s passion for the sport. Despite limited opportunities back then, Eleeza embraced the game, becoming not just a referee but also a qualified coach. Her mission? Making football accessible for everyone, especially young Muslim girls who might have felt sidelined in the past.

Eleeza is also a dynamo off the pitch—balancing her studies in politics, running her own photography business, and serving as chair of the FAW Youth Council. She’s a driving force in creating lasting change, ensuring future generations won’t need to fight as hard to fit in.
Visibility is key for Eleeza. She’s breaking barriers and paving a way for others to follow where they can freely pursue their passions without constant explanations. As more girls lace up their boots and take to the pitch, Eleeza’s story becomes not just inspiring but a road map for inclusivity in sport.
Football is on a path to becoming truly welcoming, thanks to pioneers like Eleeza and Rosheen. Their incredible journey is just the beginning for countless girls who can now see themselves reflected in the world of football. ⚽🌟 #Trailblazers #FootballForAll #WomenInSport
