George North is set to bid an emotional farewell to his illustrious rugby career with a final game at Twickenham. The Welsh icon will face off against his home nation, wearing the Barbarians’ black and white for the first and only time. After 121 caps for Wales, winning four Six Nations titles, and two British & Irish Lions tours, North is hanging up his boots.

“It’s a dream come true to play for the Barbarians, especially against Wales,” the 34-year-old said, reflecting on the remarkable journey he’s had. Despite recent injuries, North chose to step back while still feeling competitive, keen to finish on his own terms. “I’ve been on the go since 17, and with my young family, it’s time to cherish moments I’ve missed,” he shared.

Post-retirement, North plans to enjoy life in France with his family. Since moving there in 2024 after playing for Provence, he’s embraced the French lifestyle entirely, from vineyard visits to daily walks to the boulangerie. His children, now little francophones, thrive in their new environment.

Yet, North isn’t straying too far from Wales. With business interests like the Baffle Haus café chain in Pontypool and Cardiff, he’s expected to channel more energy into his ventures. The media realm might beckon, as seen with former teammates, promising new opportunities to stay connected with the sport.
Here’s to a memorable send-off for George North, a true Welsh rugby legend, as he closes one chapter and begins another in style. 🌟🏉❤️
