🚧 Heads up, Tredegar residents! A massive sinkhole has emerged, causing quite a stir on Charles Street. Imagine driving over a bump, only to discover a two-and-a-half-metre deep and four-metre-wide hole! That’s exactly what happened to local resident Malcolm Williams this past Saturday. 🚜

Malcolm, who works in construction, took a closer look and immediately flagged up the issue with authorities. The response was swift, with police arriving and sectioning off the area within minutes! 👮

On the scene? Blaenau Gwent Council, Welsh Water, and later, Wales and West Utilities all gathered to investigate. Although Welsh Water found no issues with water mains, the mystery of the sinkhole’s cause remains unsolved for now. 🕵️

Malcolm shares his concerns about potential sinkhole risks near his house, given the recent episodes in south Wales. With a culvert running near his home, the uncertainty lingers. 🤔
The council assures residents of their continuous efforts to secure the area and identify the cause, while a short diversion is in place. Safety remains a top priority, as investigations continue throughout the week. 🛑
Stay tuned for updates and steer clear of Charles Street for now! 🏘️
