ππ· Heads up, UK drivers! The average motor insurance premium has seen a slight increase, but donβt worry β it’s not all bad news. In the first quarter of 2026, premiums nudged up by just Β£1 to an average of Β£560. That’s actually Β£20 less than this time last year! π

However, there’s been a jump in the average accidental damage claim, which is now up to Β£3,699, an 8% rise compared to the end of 2025. What’s behind this? Higher parts prices and the increasingly complex tech in our vehicles are driving repair costs up. Plus, repair times are stretching out due to supply chain hiccups, affecting costs like vehicle hire. ππ§

Chris Bose from the Association of British Insurers notes that while premiums are stable, the persistent high costs of repairs are still a challenge. The industry is working hard alongside the Government to tackle these issues through the Motor Insurance Taskforce. ππ€

Keep your eyes peeled and your policies updated! Safe driving, everyone! π¦π‘
