👀 Are you aware of the obscure cancer symptom that might pop up during mealtime? Knowing the less obvious signs could make all the difference, as early detection of cancer is crucial.

Cancer Research UK has shared seven often overlooked symptoms that we’d all do well to recognise. Let’s dive in:

1️⃣ Persistent fatigue: If you’re constantly exhausted and can’t keep up with daily tasks, it might be time to chat with your GP.
2️⃣ Night sweats: Typically linked to menopause or menstruation, but when frequent and intense, these could point to cancers like leukaemia or liver cancer.
3️⃣ Indigestion or heartburn: While common, ongoing issues could escalate into more serious concerns like oesophageal or stomach cancer.
4️⃣ Long-lasting mouth ulcers: If an ulcer lingers for over three weeks, it might be suggesting something more, like mouth cancer.
5️⃣ Persistent hoarseness: Usually a result of a dry or sore throat, but if it sticks around for over 10 days, it could indicate laryngeal cancer.
6️⃣ Persistent bloating: Often due to benign issues like IBS, but prolonged bloating could connect to gynaecological or bowel cancer.
7️⃣ Persistent cough: If your cough hangs around for more than three weeks, it’s worth investigating as a rare sign of lung cancer.
Dr Julie Sharp from CRUK emphasises, “It’s impossible to know all the symptoms, which is why consulting your doctor is key. Early detection boosts successful treatment outcomes.”
