๐จ Heads up, drivers! Prepare for major delays on the M4 due to ongoing issues with lighting on the Prince of Wales Bridge. ๐ฌ๏ธ๐ก

Storm Bram isn’t just bringing high windsโit’s causing havoc on the roads too. Since this morning, the bridge is down to just one lane in each direction while urgent repairs are underway. National Highways identified some potentially shaky lighting columns that need immediate attention, but we’ll have to wait for the winds to calm down before they can do their magic.

What does this mean for you? Expect a wait. The eastbound journey could set you back around 70 minutes, while the westbound isnโt much better with a 60-minute delay. ๐๐จ
Here’s what’s jammed:
– Eastbound is congested up to junction 25 in Newport.
– Westbound traffic is backed up to the Almondsbury Interchange, junction 20.
– It’s also a snail pace on the A4810 near Magor Interchange and north on the M49.
Heads up, night owls: The bridge will close in both directions from 8pm tonight until 6am tomorrow. However, for the big lorries, the M48 Severn Bridge will allow crossings in groups of 10. ๐
Sadly, multiple shutdowns of the M48 Severn Bridge today, thanks again to those pesky winds, haven’t helped ease the situation. Currently, one lane remains out of action there for safety reasons.
๐ Stay safe and plan your journey accordingly!
