First discovered on December 16, 2023, between Slade Bay and Green Meadow Caravan Park, the body appeared severely decomposed, suggesting it had been submerged for some time. A regular passerby, a dog walker, was shocked to find it on his morning route.

During the recent inquest held at Swansea’s Guildhall, Detective Sergeant David Connick explained the exhaustive steps taken to try and identify him. Despite being a white man, around six feet tall, with a shoulder width of 20 inches and size eight shoes, no distinguishing features like tattoos or scars were found. DNA samples taken from the body did not match with any in the national database, and efforts to connect him with missing persons came up empty.

The inquest revealed no signs of injury or foul play, leaving the cause of his death undetermined. Senior Coroner Aled Grufydd returned an open conclusion, expressing frustration at the lack of evidence to uncover his identity or how he ended up on that beach.

While his DNA is now stored in hopes of future identification, the mystery remains unsolved. Let’s hope for answers, so this enigmatic man receives the closure he deserves.
