🚨 Exciting Changes Coming for the Senedd Election in 2026! 🗳️
Get ready, Wales! The upcoming Senedd election in May 2026 is set to shake things up in a big way. Here’s what you need to know:
1️⃣ **More Seats**: The Welsh Parliament is expanding to 96 members from the current 60. More voices, more representation!
2️⃣ **New Constituencies**: We’ll have 16 new constituencies, each electing six members. It’s all about making your vote count more than ever.
3️⃣ **One Vote**: Say goodbye to the two-vote system. This time, you’ll cast a single vote for a party rather than individual candidates. Parties will then fill the seats according to their candidate list based on vote proportion. Yes, independent candidates can still stand!
4️⃣ **No Overnight Counting**: Votes will be tallied the day after the election, offering a fresh approach to the counting process.
The Senedd Commission has even released a sneak peek of what the new ballot papers will look like. They’ve used fictional party and candidate names for demonstration, but it gives voters a clear idea of what to expect.
With voters as young as 16 participating, this election promises to be a pivotal moment in Welsh politics. It’s all about giving power to the people, ensuring your voice is heard loud and clear. Get ready to make a difference and keep an eye out for more updates as we move closer to the big day! 🌟
