For the very first time, Cardiff’s lifeline for those in need is running out of essential items! 😟 With aisles emptier than ever, the team is sounding the alarm. Imagine the scene: the main warehouse, usually bustling with supplies for emergency parcels, is now a shell of its former self.

Rachel Biggs, at the helm of Cardiff’s foodbank, shares a stark reality. Donations have plummeted, while the number of people relying on the foodbank hasn’t changed. From January to May this year, donations dropped by a staggering 27% compared to last year. And for context, the foodbank served around 20,000 people annually—1 in 3 of whom are children.

Economic challenges are biting us all, making it tougher for even the kind-hearted to share what they once could. The result? A struggle to keep up with demand, and an expensive £6,000 monthly bill just to top up crucial supplies.

But there is hope—and a chance to help! 🌟 Whether it’s long-life fruit juice, tinned tomatoes, or a monthly £3 donation (the price of a coffee!), your support can make a huge difference. Every bit counts, and even the smallest efforts can mean the world to someone in need.

The community spirit is what keeps the foodbank running, with 220 volunteers giving 22,000 hours annually. We need your help to fill those shelves again! Donations can be made online, at local donation points, or directly at the Splott warehouse from 9.30am to 1.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Let’s rally together, Cardiff, and show what our community can do! 💪❤️
