At first, the calls seemed legit, especially with messages sporting the TSB logo. The fraudster even asked them to check messages on her husband’s phone. One advised payment was familiar, but the other, a hefty £300, was not. The scammer urged them to use their banking app to stop the charge, and in a moment of haste, they almost did. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Then came another red flag: a £480 charge and a strange request to switch to WhatsApp for a video chat. Gillian’s instincts kicked in just in time. She refused to share her screen and decided to call the bank directly. Smart move! The official TSB confirmed it was all a scam, and they swiftly blocked her husband’s card. 🙅‍♂️

“Looking back, I realise how silly it was to fall for it,” Gillian admits. This experience is a crucial reminder: your bank will NEVER ask you to authorise payments or send money. If something feels off, always call your bank directly or dial 159 to confirm their identity! ☎️❌
