Remembering Donna Crossman 🎗️
A heart-wrenching tribute to Donna Crossman, a beloved figure in Welsh sports, was shared by her family, nearly two years after her tragic passing. Donna, a former manager for the Wales women’s rugby and netball teams, tragically lost her life in June 2024 after being struck by a car on her way to a Take That concert at Ashton Gate Stadium.
Donna’s journey was nothing short of remarkable. From her beginnings in Brackla, Bridgend, she ventured into the world with determination and an adventurous spirit. Her career took her from the RAF to the Pentagon, achieving greatness in every endeavour she pursued. Her passion for sports led her to manage and inspire Welsh teams to incredible victories, like the rugby Triple Crown in 2009.
Her family shared anecdotes of her fearlessly embracing new challenges. At 17, she surprised her family by joining the Royal Navy – but a serendipitous stop at the RAF recruitment office set her on a different path. Her father recalls her initial nerves quickly transforming into confidence as she rose through the ranks, serving with distinction.
Despite her demanding career, Donna was committed to youth safety, impacting many young lives. Her legacy continues with a national fire service award in her name, recognising dedication to youth safety.
Donna was also deeply passionate about music and adventure. Sailing through New Zealand, competing in Norway’s Tall Ships race, or climbing the South Atlantic’s Ascension Islands, she embraced life fully.
Her family fondly remembers her as someone who tirelessly supported others, wearing her heart on her sleeve. Donna’s unexpected passing has left an irreplaceable void in their lives and in the sports community. Her loved ones are hopeful for closure with upcoming court proceedings related to her accident.
While Donna’s physical presence is missed, her spirit and legacy of kindness, passion, and adventure live on, inspiring all who knew her. 🌟💔
