Exciting news for Wales! Plans for an amazing new resort in Merthyr Tydfil have moved a step closer to reality. The upcoming Rhydycar West resort will feature the UK’s largest and longest indoor ski centre, poised to become the official training ground for the GB and Welsh national, Olympic, and Paralympic snow sports teams.
But that’s not all! This incredible development will also boast a tropical indoor waterpark, a mix of indoor and outdoor adventure activities, and a range of resort hotels including cosy woodland lodges. It’s all set to bring a boost to the local economy and provide fantastic opportunities for future generations.
The local council confirmed they’ve received a nod from the Welsh Government, allowing the project to proceed. It’s expected to be a game-changer for the area, with councillors voicing strong support already earlier this year.
Ali Tyebkhan, CEO of the project, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved and the supportive community of Merthyr Tydfil. Meanwhile, Robin Kellen from Snowsport Cymru Wales shared his excitement, highlighting how this development will enhance snow sports in Wales and the UK, and offer more chances for aspiring athletes.
Stay tuned, because this could be the start of a transformation that puts Merthyr Tydfil on the map as a top leisure destination! 🏔️⛷️🏝️
