With a whopping £56 million allocated to the Extra Support Package, OVO aims to support vulnerable households facing energy bill challenges this winter. Eligible homes can look forward to receiving energy savers like smart sockets and home efficiency kits, and potentially even a heat pump.
As energy prices continue to rise—Ofgem reports bills are set to climb by another £35—OVO’s support couldn’t come at a more crucial time. Alarmingly, government reports show fuel poverty now affects 9 million households in England, marking a massive 62% increase since 2020.
David Buttress, OVO’s CEO, emphasized the importance of this support, stating, “We’re making our largest-ever commitment to aid those in need, but our energy system requires lasting change with measures like a social tariff to ensure no one is left out in the cold.”
