With summer on the horizon, many of us are indulging in our favourite creamy liqueurs, whether it’s a classic Baileys or a trendy new mango twist. But here’s a vital tip: think twice before you pour those leftovers down the sink! 💡

Cream liqueurs, delicious as they are, fall into a category known as FOG—fats, oils, and grease—a plumber’s arch-nemesis. They might not seem dangerous, but they can cause significant plumbing problems, forming solid fatbergs that block up pipes. In London alone, more than 100 tonnes of fat are poured down sinks daily, leading to over 100,000 blockages a year! Just imagine dealing with that mess—and the £200 (or more) bill to fix it! 💸

It’s not just the creamy drinks that are problematic. Did you know tuna brine and cooking oils can also lead to disaster when poured down the drain? Nick Knowles from BBC’s DIY SOS says even the oil from a tin of tuna or fat from an air fryer can mix with soap and other debris to create stubborn clogs.

So, what’s the solution? It’s simple—scrape those leftovers into a container and bin them! Your pipes will thank you, and your wallet will too. 🙌
