π«π§ Hosepipe Ban Alert! π§π«

In the midst of this relentless heatwave, a significant hosepipe ban is taking effect for over 5 million folks in the East of England. As the mercury continues to rise, watering gardens, washing cars, and filling those paddling pools with hosepipes is off-limits from 1am Saturday. π‘οΈπ

This summer has been a scorcher, and with the UK experiencing its eighth day at or above 34Β°C β breaking records set in 1976 and 2020 β water companies are urging us to be more mindful about water usage. Dr Geoff Darch from Anglian Water appeals to everyone to let those lawns go a little brown and cars embrace a dusty look to ensure water availability for all! ππ
The pressure is on for water suppliers, with regions like East Anglia, Devon, and Cornwall being closely monitored for potential drought conditions. Even Cambridge Water has declared its first hosepipe ban in 30 years for 350,000 customers, stressing the need for careful consumption amidst record demand and low rainfall. π§π«
If you’re in areas affected by South East Water or Southern Water, you’re not off the hook either! Restrictions have kicked in for parts of Kent, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight, making it crucial for everyone to “live within the spirit of these restrictions immediately,” according to Anglian Water. πβ°
