Meet Marla Roberts, the fearless fighter from Penarth who has defied all odds in her young life! 💪❤️ Born with a rare and complex heart defect, Marla’s story is nothing short of miraculous. Her journey began when her parents Jess and Harry went for a routine 20-week scan, only to discover their little girl had significant heart challenges. Yet, from the moment she arrived in April 2023, Marla has shown incredible strength. 🌟

Marla’s condition, known as tetralogy of Fallot, affects a tiny fraction of newborns. Despite the daunting news, she started her life as a miracle, breathing on her own against all odds. At just 19 days old, she faced her first open-heart surgery, and two more would follow before she turned three. Even during moments when her tiny heart struggled, Marla proved to be a beacon of resilience. 🌈

Her incredible journey hasn’t just been about survival; it’s about thriving! Marla’s now a whirlwind of energy at nursery, passionately exploring everything around her. She loves her dollhouse, Minnie Mouse, and can’t wait for Christmas, proving every day just how wrong those early predictions were. 🧸🎄

Her mum Jess shares, “She’s cheeky, funny, and full of life. Doctors warned us she’d be lethargic, but she’s anything but! Her courage inspires us every day.”
Despite the challenges, including multiple surgeries and extended hospital stays, Marla’s zest for life is infectious. Her story underscores the importance of research and the support from organisations like the British Heart Foundation, which has been pivotal in Marla’s journey. ❤️
As the Roberts family looks forward, they’re keen to raise awareness and funds for ongoing research to help countless others like Marla. Their wish? For every child to have the chance to grow up as vibrant and full of potential as Marla.
Let’s rally for more heart warriors like Marla by supporting the BHF’s Christmas campaign. Because every little contribution helps in creating more miracles. 🎁✨
