Meet David Warburton, the man who’s fallen for Swansea’s charm and now holds its future in his hands! As part of the Urban Splash team, he’s on a mission to breathe new life into the city with plans to transform the iconic Civic Centre and beyond.
David’s journey with Swansea began in 2019 and it didn’t take long for the city to work its magic on him. “Swansea has a way of grabbing you,” he says. The task now? To make Swansea a place people can’t resist visiting or calling home.
Among the highlights of this ambitious project are plans to convert the Civic Centre into something truly spectacular. Picture this: stylish flats with stunning beach views, buzzing commercial spaces brimming with shops and eateries, and even a dazzling digital aquarium all ready to turn the Civic Centre into a vibrant community hub. And that’s just one of the seven prime sites earmarked for regeneration.
David’s vision extends to linking these projects seamlessly with Swansea’s stunning seafront. Wide promenades, lush landscaped areas, and even a new tidal retention pool are just some of the plans set to enhance Swansea’s natural beauty and connect it with the pulse of city life.
With an eye on boosting local life, the regeneration will introduce up to 600 new flats and ample commercial spaces designed to spark economic growth. The idea is to not just redevelop sites but to truly regenerate the city, making it a beacon of community spirit and innovation.
Not stopping there, Urban Splash also has exciting plans for Porth Copr and the former St Thomas railway site, promising state-of-the-art commercial and residential spaces that will keep Swansea buzzing.
But it’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a vibrant city space that caters to today’s lifestyles while boosting local pride and prosperity. This, says David, is regeneration at its best—where every piece fits perfectly into the bigger picture.
Stay tuned for more updates as Swansea steps into its bright, new future!
