🌊 Oh no, Porthcawl! Our beloved ‘Lizzy the Lizard’ mascot has been swept out to sea by those mighty Welsh waves! 🌊

This quirky local icon, which washed up after a storm and quickly became a favourite with its lizard-like makeover, has been taken by the fierce tides. The RNLI had warned us that Lizzy was in danger, and sadly, their prediction has come true.

RNLI’s statement reminds us of the sea’s unpredictability. They urge everyone to stay safe during stormy weather: keep back from waves, avoid cliffs, and stay away from piers. Big waves can be deceivingly powerful, as we’ve seen with Lizzy.
Porthcawl’s water safety officer, Ian Cole, hopes Lizzy’s disappearance is a teaching moment. Chat with your kids about beach safety—there’s more power in the waves than meets the eye.
The weather this weekend is quite stormy with low pressure bringing wet and windy conditions across Wales. 🌧️🌬️ The Met Office warns that with already saturated ground, any further thunderstorms could make travel tricky and cause localised flooding.
Stay safe, folks! If you’re near the coast and spot someone in trouble, call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard. Let’s all take care we don’t get swept away like our dear Lizzy! 📸✨ #StaySafe #PorthcawlUpdates #WelshWeather
