Heads up, Rhondda Cynon Taf residents! The council is proposing a 4% increase in council tax for the next financial year. This hike is aimed at covering a budget shortfall while ensuring schools and other essential services get the funding they need. If approved, you’ll see weekly increases of about 91p for band A and £1.36 for band D properties.

Here’s the lowdown on the budget plan:
– Schools could receive a funding boost to cover inflation and service needs, with an overall increase of £10.4m, which promises full coverage of pay rises and non-pay costs.
– An additional £1m is earmarked for enhancing services for those with additional learning needs.
– Efficiency cuts come into play, saving £6.33m, through measures like cost reductions, vacancy management, and spending freezes.

Business owners, listen up! The local business rate relief scheme could get more generous, with potential increases in relief from £500 to £625, and possibly up to £750 the following year, potentially helping around 1,400 businesses at a cost of £230,000.
