🎉 Celebrating 78 Years of the NHS in Wales! 🇬🇧

This week marks 78 years since Aneurin Bevan’s revolutionary idea changed the world: the NHS! Born from the belief that your birth circumstances shouldn’t dictate your care, the NHS remains a cornerstone of equality and compassion.

Our Health and Care Minister, Mabon ap Gwynfor, honours the NHS’s legacy and looks ahead to exciting changes. With a workforce strategy launching this autumn, the focus is on valuing and supporting our amazing NHS staff. These everyday heroes—nurses, doctors, paramedics, and more—go above and beyond to care for us all.

The challenges are real: waiting lists, emergency department demands, and health inequalities. But action is being taken! A ÂŁ145 million investment is set to shrink waiting lists and spur new surgical hubs across Wales. Two-year waits will soon be history, and the backlog aims to mirror pre-pandemic times.
But that’s not all. The goal is not just to treat illness—it’s to foster a society where people thrive. From tackling child poverty and housing to promoting healthy living, the focus is on keeping people healthy and at home. A new Deputy Minister for Public Health will lead these efforts, while 100 new GPs and a robust digital strategy are on the horizon.
Leading with a vision, Mabon ap Gwynfor promises unwavering support for a public NHS free at the point of need. The NHS was born in Wales, and here, it will grow stronger than ever. đź’Ş
