🎣 Big Fine Fish Tale in Wales! 🌊

Peter Clarke from Newcastle Emlyn is facing a nearly £3,000 penalty for casting his line illegally in the River Teifi! Back in September, Natural Resources Wales patrols caught him fishing on a private stretch without the necessary licence or club membership.
When approached by officers, Clarke was reeling in his lure – a clear violation as he lacked both the licence and permission to fish in these waters. His fishing gear was seized on the spot. 🛑

At Llanelli Magistrates’ Court, he was fined £1,100 and ordered to pay £1,375 in prosecution and investigative costs, plus a £440 victim surcharge. That’s a total of £2,915 to settle up in just 28 days!
Natural Resources Wales reminds everyone that fishing laws are essential for safeguarding our rivers and ensuring fair play for those who fish legally. Make sure you’ve got all the right paperwork before you hit the water! 🎫🐟
