🏉 Big News in Rugby! 🚨
Jake Ball, the incredible force from the Scarlets and Welsh national team, has announced his retirement from rugby effective immediately. At 34, Jake’s decision comes after a triumphant return to the sport following his initial retirement in 2024. Injuries and business commitments have played their part, prompting him to hang up his boots once again.
Reflecting on his career, Jake said, “It feels like the right time. Injuries and head knocks are tough, and my body is telling me it’s time to stop. Coming back to the Scarlets was a blessing; it’s where my professional journey began, and retiring here makes it extra special.”
Jake’s journey started when he arrived in Wales from Australia in 2012. From the early days with Llanelli RFC to making his Scarlets debut against Connacht, he quickly established himself as a formidable force on the field. His career highlights include playing a crucial role in the Scarlets’ triumphant run to the Guinness Pro12 title in 2017 and the excitement of European rugby.
Though Jake only managed 14 matches this season due to a hand injury, his impact is everlasting, and the fans’ passion has been unforgettable. “The supporters here are incredible, their energy has always driven me forward,” Jake shared.
Off the field, Jake’s future is set on his growing supplement business, Veritroo. “It’s taken four years to build, and I’m passionate about it. Moving back to Australia to focus on this full-time is exciting,” Jake announced.
Rugby has been half of Jake’s life, but now it’s time to see the young Scarlets talent take the reins. “I will forever be thankful to the Scarlets for giving me the opportunity,” he expressed with gratitude.
Thank you, Jake, for all the incredible memories and giving it your all on and off the pitch! 🙌 Wishing you all the best in your exciting new chapter. 🌟
