Heartfelt tributes pour in for Jamie Collins, a “bright and gentle” young student from Swansea, whose life was tragically cut short in an alleged stabbing incident in Bristol. Just weeks away from completing his engineering and robotics degree, Jamie was looking forward to returning home to his family in Swansea.

The terrible event unfolded at Jamie’s student house in Filton, where emergency services discovered the 21-year-old with fatal stab wounds. Fellow housemate Zack Coughlan, 23, has been charged with Jamie’s murder and remains in custody.

Jamie’s family shared their heartbreak, remembering him as a kind and unassuming young man brimming with potential. “Our Jamie was bright and had his whole life ahead of him,” they said, expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming support and love they’ve received as they grieve.
The University of the West of England, where Jamie was beloved not only for his studies in robotics but also as an active participant in student activities, voiced their shock and sadness. They are offering support to those affected by this devastating loss, and are cooperating closely with police investigations.
Back in his hometown, Jamie’s presence is missed dearly. The Crofty Inn, where he worked before his move to Bristol, remembered him as a “kind soul” and “hard worker.” “He quickly won the hearts of the staff and locals,” they shared, adding their condolences to his family and friends.
This senseless tragedy has rocked everyone who knew Jamie. Our thoughts are with all those affected. 🌹
