Exciting times ahead for Ystradgynlais! 🎉 Powys councillors have given the thumbs up to a brand-new development of 152 homes on the former Penrhos School site on Brecon Road. This huge project by Persimmon Homes West Wales will bring a fresh mix of one to four-bedroom homes, including 18 cosy one-bedroom flats, to the area. 🏡

There was a bit of suspense as the planning application was initially delayed to let local education authorities weigh in. Good news, though! Local schools have room to welcome new pupils, with calculations showing the development will bring 27 students who can happily fit into the available spaces.📚

Concerns about protecting the Welsh language were also raised, but have no fear! An inclusive Welsh Language Action Plan has been voluntarily submitted by the developer, ensuring that the unique culture and language of Ystradgynlais are respected and preserved. 🗣️
No corner has been cut to make this development as smooth as possible. The plans even include a £20,000 contribution towards better transport services. 🚍
This project is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about growing a vibrant community while honouring local heritage. What are your thoughts on this new development? Share below! ⬇️
