🚨 Storm Goretti Wreaks Havoc: Mennaye Field Stunned 🚨

Storm Goretti has left a significant mark on the heart of English ruby. Our beloved Cornish Pirates’ main grandstand at Mennaye Field has been dealt a heavy blow, with damage running into “hundreds of thousands” of pounds! The storm unleashed winds reaching 100mph, tearing through and leaving a trail of destruction.
Luckily, the storm hit in the dead of night when no one was around. Sally Pettifer, the club’s chief, expressed immense relief that the timing prevented potential injuries. But now, with chunks of the roof scattered across the pitch, the urgent call is to steer clear from the site for safety’s sake.

💡 On a brighter note, the spirit of rugby camaraderie shines on! Redruth and Camborne have graciously offered their grounds if the repairs drag on past the next home match against Ampthill. There’s even a cheeky suggestion that, if all goes well, we might be embracing a match with umbrellas if only the debris can be cleared!
Fingers crossed for swift repairs and massive kudos to the local clubs for their support! Let’s rally behind the Pirates as they navigate this stormy patch. Rugby always finds a way back to the pitch, rain or shine! 🌧️🏉
