Wimbledon is here, and everyone knows it’s not just about the epic tennis battles and strawberries with cream. It’s also about sticking to that classic, all-white dress code that has its roots in Victorian times! 🕰️✨

Why all white, you ask? Back in the day, it was all about avoiding those embarrassing sweat marks, darling! Fast forward to now, and the tradition is still going strong… with a few controversial twists. 👀

Remember 2014? Female players were at the centre of a fashion storm when some were reportedly told to ditch their bras if they weren’t all white. Among those caught in the dress code crossfire was British star Naomi Broady. Yep, she had to compete without a bra due to a colourful wardrobe malfunction, all thanks to the rigid rules. 😱👙

Even Wimbledon legend Pat Cash chimed in, claiming it’s gone a bit overboard. And with strict checks, even the men weren’t spared – blue undies, beware! 😂

Pressure’s been building to change these strict rules, especially for female players. Concerns were raised for those on their periods, leading to protests from groups like Address The Dress Code. The push finally paid off last year when changes were made to allow women to sport dark-coloured undershorts. Progress! 🙌

The All England Club’s boss, Sally Bolton, said they’re all for helping players perform their best. Fingers crossed this keeps the focus on the court where it belongs.

What’s your take on the white-out tradition? Good for the game or time for a makeover? Let’s hear your thoughts below! ⬇️💬
