🌿 Rescue in the Muddy Waters of Cardiff! 🌿

When Cardiff’s Thompson’s Park pond began to dry up in the scorching heat, the usual bustling wildlife hotspot turned into a sludge pit. As water levels dwindled and thick algae covered the surface, Grace Scott took matters into her own hands.
While out walking her dog, Grace was horrified to spot a baby moorhen struggling in the mud, with no mum in sight. Without hesitation, this wildlife hero waded through the mud and rescued the tiny bird, covered head to toe in sludge.

The 20-year-old receptionist couldn’t stand by and watch. With a courage that speaks volumes, she risked her own safety to save the little bird, taking it home for some TLC. A good wash and a bit of TLC later, the moorhen was on the mend!

Thankfully, the council has since refilled the pond, turning the tap back on to ensure no other creatures face the same fate. Grace, who often visits the park, stresses this should never have happened: “It only takes two minutes to turn the tap on.”
Let’s hear it for Grace – a real community hero! 🦆💧 Share your thoughts on how we can better protect our local wildlife in the comments below. 🌿✨
