🐾 An ordinary dog walk takes a terrifying turn for Leah Matthews! 🐾
Picture the scene: a beautiful day at Henrhyd Falls, Neath, enjoying a stroll with her partner and her brother’s playful five-month-old puppy, Lola. But disaster struck when Lola slipped over the edge, sparking a heroic rescue attempt by Leah. 😮
Leah, 32, from Glamorgan, braved the cliffside foliage to save little Lola, unaware of the 131-foot drop ahead. In an unexpected twist, Leah herself ended up plunging into the ravine, landing painfully in the water below. 😱
Despite eight broken ribs, a punctured lung, and fractures galore, Leah managed to pull herself onto a wooden log, hanging on until her partner, Anthony, rapidly descended to her aid. With hypothermia setting in and a daunting rescue mission ahead, the incredible teams of mountain rescue, fire service, and paramedics worked tirelessly for five hours to airlift her to safety. 🚁
Now, after enduring multiple surgeries, Leah faces months of rehabilitation. “I wouldn’t be here without Anthony,” she says, expressing gratitude for his quick thinking that day. With unwavering support from family and friends, her journey to recovery is well underway. 💪❤️
Leah’s family has launched a GoFundMe to ease her financial strain during recovery, and they’re nearly at their target! Every little helps as she adapts her life to accommodate healing, from car modifications to everyday expenses. 🚗✨
