It happened on 13th March when Jones, reportedly under the influence of cocaine, demanded the medication to help her sleep. Her refusal to accept “no” as an answer unleashed chaos, marking a chilling moment that the court described as losing her temper “in a quite startling way.”

Arming herself with a kitchen knife, Jones caused mayhem – smashing a glass coffee table, throwing glasses, and even dragging her friend over the broken shards. Her threats escalated in intensity, culminating in a terrifying chokehold that forced her friend to flee, seeking safety with a nearby neighbour who also witnessed the disturbance.

Police later found Jones hiding in a cupboard, and her story didn’t align with the evidence: she claimed she was only trying to protect her friend from self-harm. However, the jury saw through the tale, and she faced the consequences for her actions.

Judge Paul Thomas KC sentenced Jones to three-and-a-half years in prison, acknowledging her challenging past but emphasising the severity of her crimes, which include 22 offences already on her record.

This incident has left her victim not only with physical scars but also battling psychological trauma. The victim has been plagued by panic attacks and diagnosed with PTSD, having to face the fact that her home, once a refuge, is now a traumatic reminder of that scary night.

This shocking tale reminds us of the unpredictable nature of violence and its profound, lasting impact.
