A shocking case unfolded at Newport Crown Court, involving a teenage father who subjected his six-week-old son and partner to terrifying abuse. Filmed by the child’s mother, the young dad was seen grabbing the baby’s head while attempting to feed him, leaving the child distressed. Days later, a heated argument with his partner turned violent when he threw a massage gun at her, threatened her, and strangled her against a door. He even drained £70 from her bank account to fund his cannabis habit.
Confronted by police, the teen admitted his wrongdoings, confessing he hardly spent time alone with his son and feared he could be a threat. Despite his admission, the court saw a chance for rehabilitation, giving him a 16-month suspended sentence and ordering community service, a programme, and a rehabilitation activity.
