🌿 Cardiff’s gone Green! 🌿
It’s a glorious spring day in Cardiff, and the unexpected buzz around the Green Party is real! With Senedd elections just around the corner, the Greens aren’t just on the sidelines—they’re charging forward with optimism and ambition. 🚀
I popped over to St John’s Church in Canton, expecting a modest turnout, but what I found was a packed room buzzing with energy and determination. Not long ago, 25 people at such an event would be a win. Today? They’re overflowing.
Anthony Slaughter, the party’s leader in Wales, shares how rapidly things have changed, with new members joining weekly. The goal was once a single Senedd seat, but now polls suggest they could snag between five and 11! That’s some serious momentum. 📈
The crowd’s diverse—young, old, lifelong members, and newbies, all rallying for a cause from climate change to economic fairness. Some folks are even crossing the border from England to be part of this green wave! 🌍
People like Tavgar Bulbas, who once “held his nose” to vote Labour, find themselves energised by the Greens’ vision. For him, it’s the economic policies and a sense of justice that resonate the most. Others are excited about new leadership under Zack Polanski, whose dynamic approach has been a game-changer. 🔋
Xavier and Beth, both just 17, travelled from England fueled by a desire for change and concern over issues like human rights. They see the Greens as a beacon of hope amidst a political landscape that’s otherwise bleak.
The energy is palpable, with stories from seasoned environmentalists like Jonathan Porritt confirming this is unlike anything before. The enthusiasm is there, but the pace of growth brings its challenges—candidate lists and manifestos are still in the works. 🤞
As volunteers head out to campaign, the excitement builds for the upcoming May 7 election. Could we be witnessing a green revolution right in Wales? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: Cardiff’s streets are vibrant with green ambition! 🌱
