Tragic news from the acting world as Frazer Hammill, known for his roles on Emmerdale and Happy Valley, has passed away. The talented actor took his own life the day after being questioned by police, an inquest has revealed.

Frazer was found in his Doncaster home on December 30, 2025, leaving behind a heartfelt note for his neighbours with instructions to call the police. Despite his arrest the day before, officers reported he was in “good spirits” upon leaving the station.
The coroner confirmed the cause of death as hanging, and Frazer had left notes for friends and family. It’s a devastating loss for those who knew him, professionally and personally. His sister Caroline expressed that his death came as a “complete shock,” with no prior signs of struggle. He was dearly loved by his family, including his nieces and nephews.

The John Godber Company, where Frazer was cherished for his “huge loving heart” and “enormous talent,” shared their heartbreak at his passing. Fellow actor Lamin Touray posted a touching tribute, reminiscing how Frazer had become family and was a guiding light in his life and career. He shared fond memories of the joy Frazer brought to their lives and the big plans they had for the future.
Frazer Hammill’s light and laughter will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this profoundly difficult time.
