A night out in Cardiff turned sour for DC Thomas Sheepwash of South Wales Police. Charged with using inappropriate language during the outing with colleagues, his behaviour at the Brewhouse pub was deemed “reprehensible” by a police misconduct panel. Fortunately for him, it wasn’t enough for a dismissal.

The misconduct hearing, which took place over three days in Bridgend, found Sheepwash guilty of gross misconduct. Despite the panel’s stern warnings, he’s avoided the boot – but only just. His final written warning will hang over for four years, a decision the panel didn’t take lightly.

One incident involving PC Davies was particularly frowned upon, so much so that dismissal was considered. However, the rest of the evening had been “thoroughly enjoyed” according to Kevin Baumber, Sheepwash’s representative. Baumber defended his client by highlighting Sheepwash’s immediate apologies and his commitment to exemplary conduct in future.

Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Gilmer stressed the gravity of the final warning, ensuring that Sheepwash’s actions won’t be easily forgotten. With a four-year reminder of his night out’s consequences, the officer has no room for error moving forward.

Let’s hope Sheepwash’s next night out is a lot less eventful! 🍻 Stay tuned for more local updates!
