A 48-year-old man from Cwmbran, Anthony Moses, found himself in hot water after he thought he was chatting online with a 14-year-old boy. Little did he know, the “boy” was actually an undercover police officer. Moses, oblivious to the ruse, had asked for “naughty pics” and even sent some of his own. He also suggested they meet up. When arrested, he initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming the chats weren’t sexual in nature.

During a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Moses decided to plead guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child. The court acknowledged he had no prior convictions. Despite his plea, the defence highlighted that Moses faces significant personal consequences, including health issues and losing everything due to the case.

The verdict? A six-month prison sentence, suspended for a year. Moses also has to fulfil a 30-day rehabilitation requirement and do 150 hours of unpaid work. Plus, he’s restricted by a sexual harm prevention order for seven years.
