Feeling anxious about postal voting? 🗳️ You’re not alone! Cwmbran resident Ellis Rees had a tough time when his postal ballot didn’t arrive in time for the Senedd elections. Like many, he opted for a postal vote, planning to be away on polling day, but had to make a last-minute dash to collect his ballot from the Civic Centre in Pontypool. Ellis says he won’t be choosing postal voting again after this stressful experience.

In the Sir Fynwy Torfaen constituency, over 20,000 postal votes were issued, with only about 30 needing replacements. However, issues elsewhere, like Cardiff, also sparked concerns after 1,300 people reported not receiving their ballot papers.

Torfaen Council reassures voters that such problems are relatively rare and, if needed, postal votes can still be handed in at any polling station on election day. They’ve confirmed that the challenges faced this time are consistent with previous elections.
Despite the hiccup, around 70% of postal votes have already been returned, showing a strong participation. The constituency of Torfaen, now paired with Monmouthshire, is one of 16 super constituencies in Wales, each electing six members to the newly expanded Welsh Parliament.
