🌿🌆 Is Cardiff Central Square Letting the City Down? Locals Think So!
Cardiff’s Central Square is a spot many visitors first see when arriving, but locals aren’t happy with what they’re finding. Described as “grubby and bland,” the area has been criticised for dirt, litter, and temporary barriers left behind.
The council states the square is cleaned daily but a busted machine meant it hasn’t had a proper scrub in days. A new machine is now on the job, but locals want more than just clean paving.
What do people think can spruce up the square? 🌳
1. **Green Spaces**: Some locals want trees and gardens to brighten up, create a welcoming atmosphere, and mirror the natural beauty of Wales.
2. **Art and Culture**: Statues of famous Welsh icons, more “Welcome to Wales” features, and local art could inject character and make a lasting impression.
3. **Community Spirit**: Some residents are even willing to lend a hand in creating a cleaner, more inviting space for everyone, calling for group clean-up events.
4. **Enhanced Maintenance**: There’s a push for more frequent street cleaning and a larger maintenance team to keep public spaces pristine.
5. **Policing and Safety**: Calls for more police presence aim to curb antisocial behaviour and preserve the city’s image.
A lively debate continues on whether Cardiff is doing enough. With proposals as diverse as landscaping to launching community events, there’s a clear yearning for change.
