Protesters marched through the city to express their disdain, but the scene took an ugly turn near St Denys. Despite the majority remaining peaceful, masked individuals disrupted the demonstration, forcing police to use riot shields to retreat and maintain order. Shocking scenes include fencing torn down and bins hurled at officers.

Among the crowd was controversial figure Tommy Robinson, stirring the pot with claims of racial bias, contrasting with the pleas from Nowak’s father, Mark, to avoid further division and hatred. Adding fuel to the fire, Prime Minister expressed deep concern after viewing the footage, highlighting serious questions about police actions.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now thoroughly investigating the incident, reviewing bodycam footage and evidence from Vickrum Digwa’s trial. Digwa, the convicted murderer, received a life sentence for his horrific attack on Nowak, using a 21cm ceremonial blade.
