Heartbreaking news for horse racing fans 💔 Nicky Henderson’s prized jumper, Sir Gino, has sadly passed away at just six years old after suffering a fractured pelvis at Cheltenham. The beloved horse couldn’t overcome a serious infection despite the valiant efforts of his caretakers.

Sir Gino was a true champion on the track, remaining undefeated in all seven starts, including three Grade 1 victories over hurdles and a dazzling performance in a Grade 2 Chase. He showed incredible promise in every race, having even clinched the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park following a similar injury the year before.

In a heartfelt tribute, Henderson expressed the deep sadness felt at Seven Barrows, especially for owners Joe and Marie Donnelly, who have a long history with outstanding horses. “He was not only brilliant but one of the nicest, kindest horses you could ever wish to see,” he noted. The loss of such a young and talented star has left a huge void in their hearts.
Sir Gino’s legacy as one of the best horses trained by Henderson will never be forgotten. His remarkable achievements on the track are a testament to his spirit, strength, and the loving care provided by his team. 🐴💫
