Exciting news for Pembrokeshire! A new underground hydrogen pipeline is set to span 1.5km near Milford Haven, connecting two major terminals. This innovative development is part of the ambitious West Wales Hydrogen project. The approved plan by Zurich-based MorGen Energy Ltd aims to boost green energy production in the region.

The pipeline will link the Impala Terminal with South Hook LNG Terminal, enhancing hydrogen supply to drive decarbonisation efforts. The project builds on an existing 20MW hydrogen production facility at the Impala Terminal, which uses electrolysis to produce hydrogen, offering a greener energy alternative.

Transporting hydrogen through a pipeline is not only safer but also more efficient than high-pressure containers. The goal? To support the South Hook LNG Terminal in reducing its carbon footprint by blending hydrogen with natural gas.
This development highlights a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions in West Wales, aligning with broader goals to expand the hydrogen market. With conditional approval already in place, watch this space for updates as Pembrokeshire moves towards a greener future! πΏπ§β¨
