A Newport family’s bid to expand their home has sparked quite the stir! Rafiq Tufail’s plans for a grand makeover – including a ground-floor extension and a slick new deck – got the green light from the council this week. 🎉
But not everyone’s celebrating. Over 30 neighbours voiced concerns, citing fears of traffic chaos, privacy issues, and even rumours that the house might go commercial in the future. 🚗🔍
Community Council also weighed in, uneasy about potential business use. Rafiq, however, assures everyone it’s just for family fun. “We only want a cosy family home,” he affirmed.
Council’s planning guru, Adam Foote, believes the changes are manageable: “It’s a generous plot, and we find no adverse impact,” he said. And Cllr Tim Harvey backs him – no official reason to block the build.
