Rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield has captured the nation’s admiration with his incredible charity work, raising over £11 million for motor neurone disease (MND) charities! But he wasn’t on the latest New Year Honours list, and people are understandably upset. 😲

King Charles III’s honours list, revealed on Monday, highlighted 67 remarkable individuals from Wales, including rugby icon Jonathan “Jiffy” Davies and TV host Gabby Logan. Yet, Sinfield, the former Leeds Rhinos star and Manchester-based coach, was notably absent. 😤

Fans took to social media to express their disbelief: “What’s the point of New Year Honours if there’s no Sir Kevin Sinfield?” echoed one fan. “Seriously, what does this fantastic Human Being have to do to receive a Knighthood?” questioned another. It’s clear people are frustrated by his absence. 💔
But hold on, folks! There’s more to the story. Sinfield’s omission isn’t because he doesn’t deserve it. It’s all down to royal protocol: honours can’t be upgraded within three years of the last one. Having received a CBE in 2024, Sinfield isn’t eligible for a knighthood until next year. 📆
Sinfield has been nothing short of heroic, running seven ultra-marathons in seven days annually since 2023 to honour his friend and rugby legend, Rob Burrow. His work spotlights the bravery of MND sufferers and their families. Receiving an MBE in 2014, OBE later, and a CBE last year, Sinfield humbly dedicated these honours to those battling MND. 🏅
In his 7 in 7 challenge, Sinfield made his final marathon leg through north Leeds, cheered on by supporters and joined by Team GB triathlete Jonny Brownlee and boxing champ Josh Warrington. What an inspiration! 🌟
It’s only a matter of time before Sinfield gets the recognition he truly deserves. Until then, his incredible efforts and inspiring spirit continue to shine bright. 💪❤️
