Exciting news for Bridgend! The local council has given the green light for 122 brand-new homes near Llangynwyd. This development by Persimmon Homes will transform a site southwest of Pont Rhyd-y-Cyff, adding a mix of one-to-four-bedroom homes, including 18 affordable units. A new access point from the A4063 Bridgend Road will lead to this fresh neighbourhood, complete with landscaping, drainage, and biodiversity enhancements.

While some locals are concerned about potential traffic increases, especially on the bustling A4063, the council assures changes are underway to improve safety and ease congestion. This includes new crossings aimed at slowing traffic and enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety. Despite 10 objections, including one from Llangynwyd Middle Community Council, and concerns over population growth, the proposal passed with a 12-2 vote.

Once completed, the estate will offer a variety of living spaces: 24 one-bedroom apartments, 34 two-bedroom houses, 50 three-bedroom houses, and 14 four-bedroom houses. With such a diverse mix, there’s something for everyone!
The council’s decision marks a significant step forward in addressing housing needs in the area, transforming a piece of allocated land into a vibrant community space. Excited to see how this development unfolds? Stay tuned for more updates!
